I&PG- 057, Rebecca Nelson, Animator & Production Assistant
Tuesday Apr 10, 2018
Tuesday Apr 10, 2018
Welcome to the Ink and Paint Girls podcast where we celebrate women working in animation and explore representation behind the scenes and on the screen.
Rebecca currently works as a production assistant on Disney Jr’s “Puppy Dog Pals” at Wild Canary, but her path there has been anything but a straight line. She’s worked freelance and in-house animation gigs leading her from Washington D.C. to Atlanta, Georgia, to Burbank, CA. With a desire to learn and soak up more than being just one piece to a bigger puzzle, she decided to transition into production to get the overall scope of the entire puzzle.
We discuss animation production (ok, we basically nerd out over it). We also talk about why it’s important to see ourselves in the art we make and to give back wherever you are... something this podcast is built on.

I&PG- 054, More on Sexual Harassment with Sam Conroy from Animation Heroine
Wednesday Dec 13, 2017
Wednesday Dec 13, 2017
Joined by Sam Conroy from Animation Heroine, we discuss sexual harassment more in-depth: events in recent animation news, laws to know to protect yourself, how to be an advocate for others, as well as how to process all of this for your well-being. Oh, and we bust out some Leslie Knope quotes to make ourselves feel better.
Please note that we are not lawyers, but Sam has researched this topic and shares her findings in this episode and also gives us plenty of ideas of how to seek this information out for ourselves. Most laws shared are specific to California or NY as laws may vary per state.
We’re just two people who were deeply affected by this event and want to share what we’ve learned with you. We’re lucky to have a wonderful support system in each other, and hope that you feel supported, too.
- Know your resources.
- Know your boundaries.
- Vocalize when your boundaries have been crossed.
- Hold each other accountable.

I&PG- 053, Sexual Harassment: An Overview & Pep Talk
Sunday Nov 12, 2017
Sunday Nov 12, 2017
A brief overview of Sexual Harassment and pep talk for moving forward as it relates to the Animation industry (and honestly, most industries!)
And although this episode focuses on telling someone, it is the victim's choice on whether or not they will report the incident or treatment. Just know that there are resources available to you.
This episode is raw, you will hear my hand holding the audio recorder as well as hear me be uncomfortable, laugh awkwardly, be pissed, and other emotions.
I recorded and re-recorded this a few times as well as ran it by friends and peers. I gathered information about Sexual Harassment and Abuse from the links gathered below and the rest of my advice/thoughts have been formed and influenced by the active discussion in our community along with my personal feelings and experience.

I&PG- 050, Sabrina Alberghetti, Storyboard Artist
Tuesday Sep 19, 2017
Tuesday Sep 19, 2017
At 9 years old, Sabrina Alberghetti saw “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” and she knew animation was for her. Now, she’s a storyboard artist with over 13 years of experience from working on shows like Ed, Edd, and Eddy, and My Little Pony- she has been known as the ambassador of the Bronies- and she’s drawn covers for the beloved Disney Afternoon comics.
We discuss storyboarding, what a storyboard artist can do that a show runner can’t, knowing when to take a break, and how it is about who you know, but more so, it’s about what you have to show them once you know that someone.
